The objective is to reach 12 points first. Each player receives 3 cards, with the highest card played winning the trick. The round is secured by the best of three tricks, with points determined by pre-agreed 'gritos' such as "Truco," "Vale 6," "Vale 9," and "Partido."

In Truco Paulista, the trump cards ('manilhas') are variable. The 'manilhas' for the hand correspond to the four cards ranked immediately above the flipped card ('vira') in a cyclic order [4]-3-2-A-K-J-Q-7-6-5-4-[3], where their suits determine their hierarchy: Clubs > Hearts > Spades > Diamonds. The remaining cards are ranked in the usual order, following Truco norms without considering 'manilha' status.

Conversely, in Truco Mineiro, the first four cards serve as fixed trump cards. The card rankings from highest to lowest are as follows: four of clubs; seven of hearts; ace of spades; seven of diamonds; threes; twos; aces of hearts, clubs, and diamonds; kings; jacks; queens; black sevens; sixes; fives; and non-club fours.

Players have the option to view their teammate's cards by tapping on them, mimicking traditional communication signals. The outcome of a hand determines the victor, whether playing a hand of eleven (Paulista) or ten (Mineiro), testing one's fate with each round.
